Transportation

The Pelham area is served by an excellent road transportation system. U.S. Highway 31 runs through the heart of Pelham, as does Interstate 65. State Highway 119 is accessed at the edge of the city. Easy access to Interstate 459, Interstate 59, Interstate 20, U.S. Highway 280, and State Highway 150 serves to connect Pelham with the rest of the southeast. Direct trucking services provided by several local firms provide service to most major cities in the U.S.

The geographic location of Pelham allows it to utilize the transportation services of the Birmingham metropolitan area. Air and cargo services are available at the Birmingham International Airport, only 20 miles away. Commercial carriers providing services include American, Com Air, Continental, Delta, Northwest, Southwest, United Express and USA.

The Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway, accessed at Port Birmingham connects the area by water to the Port of Mobile. Local, regional and air courier service is also available in Pelham.
